Introduction

In the 21st century, the advancements in the levels of technology have led to the rise of social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram among others which have boosted advertising of goods and services in the global market. Companies and big brands across the world have embraced the use of Facebook in advertising their products and services especially when they are targeting new customers mostly when introducing a new product or when increasing awareness of the existing ones. There are various advantages and disadvantages of using Facebook to advertise products and services.

To start with, Facebook has approximately1.13 active billion users. Thus, advertising products via Facebook ensure that you reach a very large audience. Your product or service gets exposure to millions of people across the world (Nadaraja, & Yazdanifard). Secondly, creating an advertising account on Facebook is free since there is no sign-up fees. Also, followers can easily share this information with others. Further, it increases brand loyalty, as customers who follow your brand are like to remain loyal to it. However, you can easily get negative feedback from unsatisfied customers. Again, use of social media platform is very time consuming, as you have to keep on responding to the customers.

Some of the products or brands that have benefited from advertising on Facebook are Qatar Airways, Oreo, and Starbucks who actively engage their followers by providing them with the latest information on their products (Turban, Strauss, & Lai, 2015). Finally, this avenue is effective for the success of a new product that is associated with an existing brand because customers tend to be loyal to a particular brand and they are likely to get more information on the product via Facebook.

It is important to understand the interaction of the unconscious and conscious elements in a person’s mind and try to use that to cure mental disorders. The short story by Edgar Poe explains about Montresor, who wants to sick revenge on his acquaintance, Fortunato. Montresor argues that he has been hurt a lot of times by his supposed friend and therefore, the only way to get back at him is by revenging and ensuring that he understands it is revenge (Poe 69). This shows that Montresor has issues he should first deal with, his need for revenge develops his reasoning, and he does not want to stop until he achieves this. This may imprint the notion that he is mentally unstable or he has some mental problems. This can be seen in the fact that he is willing to continue pretending to be friends with Fortunato so that he can be able to hurt him effectively.

Montresor knows that what he is doing is wrong. He even admits that trying to do something wrong to get back at someone who did something wrong, is not right (Poe 69). However, this does not make him stop or want to find another way to deal with the differences between him and Fortunato. Revenge is not a justified way to react to a certain situation, and Montresor clearly understands that, but he feels that it is the only way for him to feel content once again.

Montresor is determined to go to extremes to achieve his revenge plan; he uses Fortunato’s ego against him to make him go and taste his newly acquired wine. He tells him that he has a new wine, amontillado, and needs to go and ask Luchresi to taste it for him because he knows a lot about wines. This makes Fortunato explain that Luchresi does not know about wines and instead offer to help taste it. Whether Montresor has a psychological problem due to his urge for revenge, it is clear that he has a well-formulated plan and thus in a good state of mind to know which steps to take.

Montresor is willing to go at all costs only to assert his revenge on Fortunato. He pretends to like him and even offers him wine as he leads him through the vaults whereby he wants to make him suffer (Poe 70). This leads one to question Montresor’s state of mind, one can wonder whether he has been overwhelmed by his bid for revenge or he is a man who can go to every extreme to achieve what he wants. However, no matter the response to that, Montresor is consumed with the thoughts of revenge, that he acts indifferently, pretends to like Fortuna, offers him wine, and laughs with him only so that he can lead him to his trap (Poe 71). This begs some questions about Montresor’s sound of mind.

Montresor is mentally disturbed, and he has problems that made him do what he did. His bid for revenge made him proclaim death on a person who thought they were friends. When he locked Fortunato away, he had him cry and then go silent, but he did not want to set him free, and therefore he put the stones on the wall to ensure he could not get out (Poe 72). Montresor did this knowing that he was ending a person’s life but he did it anyway. This shows that he does not know how to feel, he is willing to go to the extremes to get what he wants without caring about another person’s feelings.

Montresor, far from having mental problems, also portrays the aspect that he is hypocritical. He pretends to like Fortunato and even shows him this while they are conversing. He tells him that he has been looking for him and says that he is glad to see him (Poe 69). However, Montresor is only glad because he is almost achieving his bid for revenge. He is not glad to see Fortunato, rather, he is glad that he has a chance to revenge on him. He achieves this by doing something so cruel; he leaves him behind the walls locked up in the cold to die. This act does not serve more as a revenge journey but a murder.

The character Montresor does not feel a pinch of guilt for his action. This is shown in the fact that even when he hears Fortunato cry one last time, he is aware that the cold may have contributed to that or death, but he does not care to open the crack again. He puts the last cover on the wall and walks away, and for half a century, nobody tried to touch or remove those stones (Poe 72). This summarizes the idea of Montresor as a person, and as a human, he does not possess many traits to show that he is human.

Mix methods also use a diversity of methods for both quantitative & qualitative. One limitation of mixed methods is that they are time-consuming. When using mixed methods in your research, it requires collecting and analyzing data from both quantitative & qualitative.

Rationale against mixed methods Mixed methods can make data analysis difficult; sometimes, it can take time to understand. As stated by (Johnson et al., 2004). Qualitative researchers sometimes need to pay more attention to providing an adequate rationale for interpretations of their data. What Are the Four Types of Parenting Styles?

The four parenting styles commonly used in psychology are authoritative parenting style, authoritarian parenting style, permissive parenting style, and neglectful parenting style.

Authoritative Parenting (Psychology Definition): “An authoritative parenting style is a child-rearing approach characterized by high responsiveness and high expectations. Authoritative parents are warm and responsive to their child’s emotional needs while holding the child to high standards. They set limits and consistently enforce the boundaries” (Li, 2023c).

Authoritarian Parenting (Psychology Definition): “Authoritarian parenting is an autocratic parenting style characterized by high demands but low responsiveness. Authoritarian parents require their children to meet high standards, yet they are cold and aloof to the child’s emotional needs” (Li, 2023a).

Permissive Parenting (Psychology Definition): “Permissive parenting, also known as the indulgent parenting style, is characterized by high responsiveness and low demandingness. Permissive-indulgent parents are very responsive to their child’s emotional needs; however, they do not set limits or are inconsistent in enforcing boundaries” (Li, 2023a).

Uninvolved Parenting/Neglectful Parenting (Psychology Definition): “Uninvolved parenting is characterized by low responsiveness and demandingness. These neglectful parents are uninvolved in their child’s life, and they do not meet their child’s needs, whether basic or emotional. They also do not set boundaries or discipline their children” (Li, 2023b).

Scenario: Permissive Parenting

Parent: I received an email from your teacher today, and she said you were acting out in class and being disruptive. Can you explain to me what happened?

Child: Mom, it was totally not my fault. I was sitting with a group of friends, and they were the ones that were acting up, not me. That teacher does not even like me.

Parent: Okay, honey, I am glad we could discuss it. Can you make sure to pick up your room before dinner?

Child: Sure, Mom, but I planned to spend the night at a friend’s house tonight. Can I clean it tomorrow when I get home?

Parent: Yes, honey, that will be fine, but you must clean it as soon as you get home.

This scenario fits into the selected parenting style because permissive parents will tolerate their child even when the child is wrong. They have little to no rules or have rules but apply them inconsistently. Permissive parents tend to reward their children even when they do wrong and do not enforce consequences for bad behavior.

The authoritative parenting style is when a parent enforces rules and creates a positive relationship with the child (LCSW, 2022). The authoritarian parenting style is when the parent focuses on obedience and punishment is looked at before discipline (LCSW, 2022). The permissive parenting style is described as the parent who doesn’t enforce rules and believes in the saying “kids will be kids” (LCSW, 2022). The uninvolved parenting style is when the parent is not paying any attention, nurturing the child, or providing guidance to the child (LCSW, 2022).

Child: “I’m going to go to my friend’s house after school”

Mom: “Alright”

Child: *Doesn’t come home until 1 am on a school night*

Mom: “Goodnight, son”

This scenario is an example of the parenting style of not being involved. This shows the uninvolved parenting style because the mom doesn’t care that the child didn’t ask permission or when he came home on a school night.
