Study of a Domestic Terrorist Organization (DOTs).
The 9/11 terrorist attacks on US soil have changed the nature and character of the national security of many countries across the world. Addressing global terrorism has become a major concern of the United Nations. As a response, on October 7, 2001, the United States and its coalition forces attacked Afghanistan to remove the Taliban and punish al-Qaeda, the presumed culprit of the 9/11 attacks. Without finishing the Afghan war, the US invaded Iraq to destroy Saddam Hussain’s weapon of mass destruction (WMD) and the war against terrorism proliferated. It became a global phenomenon with diverse implications. Nation-states have started witnessing international and domestic (homegrown) terrorism. Now, a country has to prepare itself to counter both international and domestic terrorist organizations.
For 1st Assignment, you are required to choose a domestic terrorist organization (DTOs) for study purposes and write a scholarly paper. As a budding social scientist, you will conduct extensive library research on the selected DTO. Learn details of the organization; its history, origin, main goals, past activities, operations, funding sources, members’ ethnicity, socio-economic status of the members, ideological commitment, and political affiliation. What kind of violence it has supported? Earlier mentioned each item or combination of these items could be different sections of the content part of the paper. Provide sub-title to each section. Try to be innovative and creative in investigating this information. For research purposes read peer-review journal articles. For journal articles use VSU Library sources. In the literature review section, write at least three reviews of peer-review journal articles. The paper should have an introduction (with a title: Introduction), the main body (about different aspects of the organization with sub-titles), and a conclusion. Proper citation is very critical.
The final paper is due on September 22, 2020. Submission methods will be determined later.
